Teaching the concept of Hell and
Heaven In Buddhism
- Opening
Buddhists
sometimes considered the wider community as people who do not believe in god.
Buddhism is often said to be a godless religion. In fact, at a meeting with
religious leaders, I never received a statement from leaders of other faiths
that Buddhism does not believe in god. Responding to statements that this
accusation, I answer with another question: "Which of the godless religion
in Indonesia?" Of course religious leaders immediately recoiled in shock
and his face flushed. They seemed not to believe with my question. However, I
immediately went on the testimony that the term 'god' actually comes from the
Kawi language. Therefore, understanding the word 'god' in the dictionary Kawi
language. Mentioned in the dictionary that 'god' means ruler or lord. And,
because in Indonesia there is no religion which uses Kawi language as the
language of scripture and religious Indonesian Which is godless and include the
term 'god' in the original scriptures? Realize the truth about the origin of
language scriptures respectively, then they accept that there is no term 'god'
in their holy book. If so the Tipitaka, Buddhist scriptures, of course will
also never found the term 'god' because the Pali Tipitaka using the languages
in India in ancient times. However, the absence of the term 'god' in the
Tripitaka scriptures must not be easily and carelessly then people mention that
'Buddhism does not believe in god'. Misunderstandings and interpretations in
such a reckless course potentially trigger inter-religious conflict in
Indonesia and even in different parts of the world.
- Discussion
Buddhist
concept of heaven and hell completely different from other religions. Buddhists
do not accept that the place is timeless. Not unreasonable to condemn a person
to eternal hell over human weakness but quite reasonable to give him every
chance to develop themselves. From the standpoint Buddhists, those who go to
hell can improve himself by using a kindness they have acquired previously.
Gates of Hell is not locked. Hell is a temporary place and uncalled for that
creature to suffer there forever. Buddha's teachings show us that there is a
heaven and a hell, not just out of this world, but in this world sendiri.Jadi
Buddhist concept of heaven and hell is very reasonable. For instance, the
Buddha once said, "when a man does not know to make a statement
unequivocally that there is a hell (patala) below the sea, he made a
statement which is false and without foundation. word 'hell' is the term for a
sensation that hurts.
"The
idea of a special place prepared or created by God as heaven and hell is not
acceptable to the Buddhist concept. Api hell in this world hotter than hell
that may exist in the outside world. There is no fire equal to anger, lust or
greed , and ignorance. According to the Buddha, we are burning by eleven types
of physical pain and mental suffering: Appetite, hatred, delusion, suffering,
destruction, death, anxiety, lamentation, pain (physical and mental),
melancholy, and sadness. People can burn the entire world with some fire
fighting mental. From a Buddhist perspective, the easiest way to define hell
and heaven is wherever there is more suffering, either in this world or in
another place, that place is a hell for those who suffer. And where there is
more pleasure or happiness, either in this world or in the presence of others,
that place is a paradise for those who enjoy earthly life on the ground. Anyway
because human nature is a mixture of pain and happiness, human beings
experience both and will be able to recognize the true nature of life. But the
existence of many other places, the inhabitants have less chance for this
realization. In certain places there is more suffering than pleasure. while in
other places there is more pleasure than suffering.
Buddhists believe that after death, rebirth can occur in one of several possible natural existence. This future existence is conditioned by the mind destroyed them moments experienced by a person at death. Mind trerachir which determines the next existence is the result of actions past someone, either in this life or previous. So, if the main thoughts that reflect good deeds, then he will find his future existence in a happy keaadaan. But the situation is temporary and if it has expired then a new life had begun again, is determined by the energy kamma other dominant who settled in the mind bawahsadar, waited for the right conditions to become active. It is very similar to that waiting seed rain and light to grow. This iterative process continues without end unless someone comes on 'Right view' and committed firmly to follow the noble path that produces the ultimate happiness Nibbbana.

- Conclusion
Heaven is a temporary place where
those who have done good, had a lot of sensual pleasure for a longer period of
time. Hell is a temporary place where the other offenders experience more
physical and mental suffering. Can not be justified to believe that such places
it is timeless. There is no God behind the scenes of heaven and hell. Any and
all people experience pain or pleasure depending on good deeds and bad.
Buddhists have nev try to introduce Buddhism to scare Scaring people through
hell fire or lure people to show heaven. primary goal uamat Buddha is character
building and mental training. Buddhists practice their religion without aiming
at heaven or without developing fear of hell. Their job is to live a life true
to enforce the nature of human nature and peace of mind.
